Know Your Stuff Before You Try to Talk Shit with Me

Say that you got a job and a girlfriend. And now you're looking for a car to impress your girlfriend. What if I tell you I can sell to you a Mercedes-Benz at the price of RM1,000. I tell you why buy from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia for RM300,000 when you can get the same for only RM1,000. But there is a catch. I'm selling to you a Mercedes-Benz made in 1965, as compared to the 2015 Mercedes-Benz that Mercedes-Benz is selling to you. Which car will you buy?
Definitely a no brainer. You will definitely buy a 2015 Mercedes-Benz even though it is much more expensive.

Same goes to our SGPV project. At a time where we are seriously lacking of surface combat vessels to protect our maritime sovereignty, you are questioning why Malaysian govt is buying 6 SGPV (short for Second Generation Patrol Vessel) for RM9.1 billion and comparing it to a Hamilton class cutter bought by the Philippines for their navy for RM31.6 million? You must be joking. You can find the jokers here. You'll need to use Google Translator to read this.

For your information, BRP Gregorio del Pilar (PF-15) is a Hamilton class cutter which first saw action as part of US Coast Guard in 1965. That is a 50 year old platform there you're talking about. It is only armed with 76mm main gun with two 25mm cannon and another 20mm cannon.

Whereas our Gowind class are going to be armed with NSM anti-ship missile, so potent even USN is arming their ships with these missiles. And if one part of the ship gets punched by missile or torpedo, it won't sink too fast due to the air-tight compartments, something that Hamilton can't do.

With China is asserting it's claim over South China Sea, including areas 80 nm from Sarawak, you jokers still wants the govt to arm our navy with an ageing peashooter? Go fly kite. I'm done with talking with niceties.

  1. Wish this is longer, and not just about the Navy vessels

  2. It was lunch time and I had only enough time to screw back on this issue. Plus, needed someone to help me translate it to English/Malay.

  3. I thought this is old news, dated at least a year or two back. Still remember this vividly as some ill-informed minister compared the purchase price of the SGPV to Phillipines 'new' frigate.

A lot of rakyat, especially equally ill-informed Chinese which are smart enough to Google for Korean artists but not 'Hamilton class' started flaming on their FB pages out of ignorance.

    1. Yes, it was old news. But it was not highlighted by an ill-informed minister, but some other MPs.

It came back up again recently when the news of the ships purchase hit the news again.
